声韵复沓成语例析

声韵复沓即指辅音或元音的重复。主要有以下两种情况：

一、词首辅音相叠

■first and foremost 比什么都重要，首要的

He does a bit of writing, but first and foremost he’s a teacher. 他也写一些文章，但他主要是个教师。

■with might and main 全力以赴地

The soldiers fought with might and main. 战士们全力以赴地战斗。

■black and blue 青一块紫一块，遍体鳞伤

The slave was leathered black and blue. 那个奴隶被抽打得浑身青紫。

I had so many falls that he was black and blue all over. 我摔了许多跤，以至于全身都是青一块紫一块的。

■part and parcel 主要部分，重要部分

Keeping the accounts is part and parcel of my job. 我的工作主要是记账。

metaphysics is part and parcel of the idealist world outlook. 形而上学是唯心主义世界观的组成部分。

二、元音相叠

■here and there 到处

Lights were blazing and men were running here and there: they had just discovered that a prisoner had escaped. 灯光强烈耀眼，人们跑来跑去——他们刚刚发现有个战俘逃掉了。

■wear and tear 磨损

This cloth is designed to stand up to a lot of wear and tear. 这种布料十分耐用。

The insurance policy does not cover damage caused by normal wear and tear. 保险单内容不包括正常使用所导致的损坏。

■wine and dine 用酒宴招待或受到酒宴招待

Our hosts wined and dined us very well. 主人设酒宴盛情款待我们。

Too much wining and dining is making him fat. 他酒宴过多而身体发胖。

■out and about 能下床，能到户外

It’s good to see old Mr Jenkins out and about again. 看见詹金斯老先生又能起床出来走动了，可真高兴。
