Hannibal, Missouri, founded in 1819, is known worldwide as the boyhood home of Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark Twain), 1835-1910. The Clemens family moved to Hannibal in 1839 from nearby Florida, Missouri when Sam was four years old.
