despite的用法

◆尽管他很忙，他还是来了车站迎接我们。

误：Despite he was busy, he came to the station to meet us.

正：Despite he being busy, he came to the station to meetus.

正：Despite the fact that he was busy, he came to thestation to meet us.

析：despite是介词，不是连词，所以不能用来引导句子，若其后要跟 that 从句，需插入 the fact。

◆尽管有病，他还是来开会了。

误：He came to the meeting despite of his illness.

正：He came to the meeting in spite of his illness.

析：despite本身是介词，注意不要受 in spite of的影响，而误用 despite of。

◆尽管我的资历很好，但我还是找不到工作。

误：Despite my qualifications, but I couldn’t get a job.

正：Despite my qualifications, I couldn’t get a job.

析：despite是介词，由此引出的是介词短语，注意不要按 汉语意思将其与 but 连用。
